Continuous-flow In-droplet Magnetic Particle Separation in a Droplet-based Microfluidic Platform
ABSTRACT We demonstrate a droplet-based microfluidic device in which in-droplet magnetic bead separation is performed in continuous-flow. Two droplets containing different solution for the magnetic bead separation are generated in pair-wise manner. Sequential fusion of droplets occurs by a geometrical structure. The magnetic beads are deflected by externally applied magnetic force from one side...
متن کاملGMI Effect of Ultra-Soft Magnetic Soft Amorphous Microwires
In this paper we experimentally studied GMI effect and soft magnetic behavior of Co-rich microwires. Correlation between magnetoelastic anisotropy and magnetic field dependences of diagonal and off-diagonal impedance components are observed. Low field GMI hysteresis, explained in terms of magnetoelastic anisotropy of microwires, has been suppressed by the bias current.
متن کاملCDF Analysis of Particle Magnetophoresis in Multiphase Continuous-Flow Bioseparators
The use of magnetic particles has recently expanded for a process known as detoxification in which different toxins are captured from the bloodstream of septic patients. Due to the laminar flow developed in microfluidic devices, the particle separation after the toxin capture can be carried out in a continuous mode using multiphase microfluidic channels. In this work, the design for a two-phase...
متن کاملContinuous-Flow Dielectrophoretic Particle Sorting in Ridged Polymeric Microchannels
This work presents continuous-flow particle sorting at low applied fields (as low as 30 V/cm) using electrodeless dielectrophoresis [2-7] in ridged polymeric microstructures. Particle manipulation and sorting is critical in the analysis of cellular systems and subpopulations, water monitoring, soil analysis, and colloidal synthesis. This technique is developed with a view toward sorting of cell...
متن کاملTurbulent Flow and Particle Motion in Continuous Slab-Casting Molds
Turbulent flow in the continuous casting process involves transient phenomena and the transport of inclusion particles and plays an important role in the quality of the steel. As shown in Fig. 1, the molten steel jet entering the mold may carry inclusion particles (e.g. alumina) and argon bubbles. Liquid flux can also be entrained from the shear of the liquid flow across the top surface and for...
